How to be a master plumber or Journey plumber?
The Master plumber works under a licensed contractor and has the authority to perform all tasks associated with a licensed contractor. Master plumber involves a lot more than just installing new toilets, washing machines and floor drainage.
In order to be called a Journeyman plumber, you need to have at least two years of experience as a licensed journeyman plumber. Other requirements that you must pass an exam for are the following: you must have a high school diploma or its equivalent; and you must have at least two years of experience as a licensed journeyman plumber.
How do I become a journeyman plumber ?
If you successfully completed your apprenticeship and are now a journeyman plumber then you will need to take the Plumbing Designer Plumbing Exam. The next step is to take the necessary licensing exams for your state. Most states require that you complete four years of approved apprenticeship before you will be issued your journeyman license.
In order to be licensed you must show proof of at least three years of experience working as a plumber. They will assigned you an examiner who will determine if you are what you say you are. You must pass this exam in order to have a legitimate title to call yourself a journeyman plumber. Your journeyman license is valid for three years. If you do not have a three year journeyman license you will be able to get a dual certified journeyman plumber license.
How to be a license contractor?
Once you have received your NOCA certification you will be able to work as a plumbing contractor or a gas piping specialist. Once you have reached the state required experience level you will be required to take the licensing exam.
If you are licensed and the state board has awarded you a title then you must be properly certified by the NOCA. You must then pass the final examination by passing it with a score of at least plus three hundred twenty. If you have an extra year of experience you can apply to have a double title.
